Bank of New Hampshire’s Prestige Plus Members attend Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Tribute to John Williams
Laconia, New Hampshire – May 4, 2016 – Bank of New Hampshire’s Prestige Plus Members recently traveled to Portland, Maine for the Portland Symphony Orchestra’s final Pops concert. Conductor Robert Moody, along with singers and other guests gave a stirring tribute to composer John Williams. Williams is the winner of five Academy Awards and seventeen Grammys. The day featured many of his famous songs from movies like Close Encounter of the Third Kind, The Cowboys, Sabrina and E.T.
The Pihcintu Multicultural Chorus, an all-girl group that includes immigrants and refugees, joined the University of Southern Maine Chamber Singers for a beautiful take of “Dry Your Tears, Afrika” from the movie, Amistad. It was a wonderful show ending with Williams famous score from the Star Wars movies and an appearance on stage by Princess Leia, R2-D2 and Moody dressed as a Jedi master. The Portland Herald said, “Wookiees notwithstanding, it was the soaring music of Williams that made this a winning Pops! concert.”
The day was complete with a delicious luncheon at the famous floating restaurant, DiMillo’s on the Water on Portland’s Long Wharf.
