Bank of New Hampshire’s Prestige Plus Members Travel to Salem, MA
Laconia, New Hampshire – October 29, 2015 – Bank of New Hampshire’s Prestige Plus members recently visited historic Salem, MA.
It was a beautiful sunny day with the fall foliage at its peak. The group toured The House of the Seven Gables which was made famous by author Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hawthorne’s visits to the home owned by his cousin Susanna Ingersoll are credited with inspiring the setting and title of his 1851 novel, The House of the Seven Gables. Following the House of the Seven Gables tour, the group enjoyed lunch at Salem’s beautiful Hawthorne Hotel located in the heart of historic Salem. The Hawthorne Hotel’s rich history began in 1925 and has welcomed numerous travelers, dignitaries and celebrities. Episodes of iconic shows including Bewitched, What Not to Wear and Ghost Hunters have been filmed on the hotel property.
The highlight of the day was the afternoon Bewitching tour. Prestige Plus members were amazed by local historian and tour guide, Jeff Page. A Salem history expert, Page took members on a fascinating two-hour walking tour of Salem. Prestige Plus members enjoyed its beautifully restored historic buildings and many sights concerning the Witch Hysteria of 1692, and the history surrounding the 20 “so–called witches” that were known to be executed in Salem.
