Bank of New Hampshire provides discretionary courtesy overdraft protection1 up to a predetermined amount. We also offer automatic fund transfers from other BNH accounts2 to cover overdrafts—free of charge.
1 Overdrafts may be created by check, in person withdrawal, ATM withdrawal, everyday debit card transactions, ACH or other electronic means. Payment of overdrafts under the courtesy overdraft program is discretionary. We will not authorize and pay overdrafts for ATM or everyday debit card transactions without your opt-in. For consumer accounts, a fee of $35 will be charged for each overdraft paid, (up to a maximum of $175 per day). For commercial accounts, a fee of $35 will be charged for each overdraft paid. Overdrafts must be repaid within 30 days.
2 Limitations on transfers for non-consumer accounts. Donor account is ineligible for overdraft protection.

With Telebank, you can access your accounts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from the convenience of your telephone. Telebank allows you to check account balances, hear transaction information, and transfer funds between your accounts*, toll-free from within the continental United States. For your protection, access to your account information is secured by your Personal Identification Number (PIN). We highly recommend that you keep this number confidential and change it regularly. *Transfers made using Telebank must be made by 6:00pm Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) to be posted to your account on that day. Transfers made Monday through Friday after 6:00pm, or on a bank holiday, will be posted to your account on the next business day.
With Text Banking, you can quickly request and receive account information via a text message*. It’s by far the quickest and easiest way to get account information when on the road.
To enroll, log in to your online banking account:
- Under Settings click “Text Banking Enrollment”.
- Click the “On” button.
- Enter the mobile device number you wish to register.
- Click the “Agree To Terms” checkbox to acknowledge that you agree to the Text Banking terms and conditions.
- Click “Save”.
- An enrollment confirmation will be sent to the device you registered.
- You will be prompted to nickname your text banking accounts.
- Once enrolled, simply send a text to 226563 using the following commands below. A text message will be returned shortly with the information requested.
- Make sure that you add 226563 to your contacts for future use.
BAL or BAL <account nickname> – Receive account balance (if no account nickname is included, the balances for all enabled accounts will be listed)
HIST <account nickname> – Receive account history for the 5 most recent transactions
XFER <from account nickname> <to account nickname> <amount> – Transfer funds between BNH account
LIST – Receive a list of available text commands
HELP – Receive a list of contact points for information on text banking
STOP – Stop all text messages to the mobile devices (for text banking and SMS alerts/notifications)

Secure account statements through Online Banking at no additional cost—and access up to 18 months of account statement history.
To sign up for eStatements:
- Log in to your online banking account.
- On the left-hand navigation menu, click “Account Services”.
- Select “eStatements Enrollment” and fill out the accompanying information to start receiving eStatements.
Stop payments can be placed on an outstanding check or ACH debit.
A written stop payment on a check is binding on an institution for 6 months unless renewed in writing.
A written stop payment on a one-time consumer and recurring consumer ACH entry is binding on an institution for forever.
A written stop payment on a one-time business ACH entry is binding upon an institution for 6 months unless
renewed in writing.
Visit an office or give us a call to place a Stop Payment on an outstanding check or ACH debit. Stop Payments (checks only) can also be submitted within Online Banking.

To set up an account alert:
- Login to your online banking account.
- Select “Settings” from the left-hand navigation menu, then select “Manage Alerts”.
- Complete the form to establish an account alert.
- Choose your delivery method. Alerts can be sent via SMS text or email.
